Welcome to Bethel UMC!

Here at Bethel Church, we enjoy a wonderful relationship with and serve the living God, who "so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NRSV)

We invite you to join us in praise, worship, and fellowship every Sunday!

During the summer months (from Fathers Day till Labor Day), Bethel offers one Sunday Worship Service at 10am and will continue to celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. After Labor Day, we resume two Sunday Worship Services — at 9:30 am and 11am.

Email communications

E-mail Print PDF

To help further communications in the church, we have set up email addresses for the church leadership.  To email someone in the church leadership, use the initial from their first name and their last name and then add "@bethelumc.org".  This is similar to the emails that Jack and Lemuel already have.  Some leaders also have email addresses that associate with their positions on the church council and some do not.

Read more to see a full chart of the leadership in the church.

New Website!

E-mail Print PDF

As you may have already noticed, Bethelumc.org got a makeover!  We hope that this new site will serve your needs better, and is updated in a more timely fashion.  If you want to see the old site, its still around at http://bethelumc.org/original/

The original website will no longer be maintained, and no new information will appear there.  We link to it here for historical and informational purposes only.  If there is something that you regularly access on it, please let us know so we can incorporate it into the new site.  Feel free to use the "Contact the Webmaster" form on the left.

Announcing the new Bethel UMC Announcement list

E-mail Print PDF

To replace the way that Fred sent emails out to the church we have installed a mailing list program called dadamail.

This system is installed on our webserver and is completely in our control.  Your email will not be shared with anyone.

I have sent invites to the list of addresses that Fred sent me, but some of them are old or not working.  To sign yourself up manually, go to http://www.bethelumc.org/mail/mail.cgi/list/Bethel/

If you have gotten the invitation, you will need to accept the invitation to receive emails from Bethel UMC.

The Francis “Kit” Callahan’s Story

As told to Ellen Walker, RN

At 9:12 a.m. on October 23, 1993, I was found unconscious in a stairwell in Chicago. When the paramedics arrived, I had a Glasgow Coma Score of 3 (the lowest measure of consciousness). In Burke, Virginia, my mother, Katherine “Kim” Callahan, received a call that is every parent’s nightmare. I was in critical condition with a head injury — another statistic of a violent crime. I had just graduated from Virginia Tech and was working as a ‘runner’ at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. I took the orders my company received and delivered them to the trading pits. I loved the fast pace. Then my life took a drastic turn; my family didn’t know if I’d live.
