Bethel's 2007 Mission and Goals

Mission Statement: Bethel United Methodist Church is an expression of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Bethel manifests God’s love in worship; demonstrates God’s love through mission efforts in the community and the world; experiences God’s love in Christian fellowship; teaches God’s love through the study of Holy Scripture; and enhances the personal and corporate communion with God through prayer.


To fulfill this mission statement, the Bethel United Methodist Church, by the grace of God, will continue existing ministries and will emphasize the following:


Reach People Within the Community

Promote Church Activities

- Sunday Breakfast

- Youth Ministry

- Sunday Worship Services

- Special Worship Services

- Bi-District Fishing Expedition


Conduct Promotional Actions

- Be creative with marketing

- Utilize radio, newspapers, TV, cinema

- Distribute Door Hangers

- Always have information flyers available

- Follow-up on VBS Attendees

- Join Girl Scout's House of Faith Program

- During the summer, contact new residents


Utilize the Internet

- Improve Web Site

- Maintain an up-to-date e-mail listing

- Increase web site listings


Involve People Within the Congregation

Enhance Information

- Develop an annual calendar

- Add e-mail request in the registration process

- Provide temporary name tags for visitors

- Hold new member meetings

- Print the mission statement often


Increase Participation

- Have a major quarterly event

- Use Fran Program at least once

- Have on day weekly for multiple meetings

- Provide meals for families with new babies

- Provide meals for persons home from the hospital

- Contact those absent from worship

- Have mentor families for new members and visitors
